The College of Alberta School Superintendents is once again pleased to have Charlene Bearhead , the first Education Lead at the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation (NCTR) facilitate a full day of learning focusing on the next steps for Reconciliation in Educational Leadership:

This second foundational knowledge session invites Superintendents and CASS members who have taken initial steps to personal and professional learning about Indian Residential Schools and our collective history in Canada to the next level. Based on an earlier learning session participants will consider questions like:

Where do we go in our own education systems now that we know about the damage of residential schools?

What does our new awareness and learning mean for our teachers?… for our Indigenous students? … for our non-Indigenous students?… for our parents and school communities?

Who do we need to walk on the path of reconciliation with? Where do we go to seek direction, guidance and collaborative partnerships for reconciliation in education?

How do we build relationships with Elders, knowledge keepers, parents, community members and our own Indigenous students in our schools and school systems?

How do we inspire and support our teachers and all school system staff members to pursue their own learning and movement on the path to reconciliation?

How do we model relationships, respect and reconciliation to our Indigenous and non-Indigenous students and support them in reconciling their own relationships within their classrooms, schools and communities?

If you are ready to move from information to action in your school division this session is for you.
