Learning Opportunities

Bev will lead you through the process of beginning with the end in mind, planning out a sequence of minilessons, choosing mentor texts with planned teaching points. We will also discuss small group and individual conferences with an eye towards possible areas that will need support for your planned unit. Your unit could be genre (personal narrative, fiction, fairy tales, informational texts, persuasive texts such as speeches or presentations, etc.) or craft based (for example, illustration studies, how authors use punctuation in interesting ways, etc.). Participants will need to bring a minimum of 10 mentor texts for the unit they want to develop.
