Library to Learning Commons - Terri Hayes

Terri Hayes is passionate about the potential of the Learning Commons to support teaching and learning, to inspire a reading culture within schools, to generate a collaborative learning culture between staff and students, to foster inquiry-based learning, and to promote technology as a tool for learning. Terri’s roles as an educator have encompassed teaching all subjects at the elementary level, as well as serving as a Learning Leader and teacher-librarian. She is currently an Assistant Principal at a high-needs school within the Calgary Board of Education. Terri holds a Batchelor of Arts on English, History and Ancient History from the University of Queensland in Australia, a Batchelor of Education from Mount Saint Vincent University, and a Masters of Education in Teacher Librarianship from the University of Alberta. She has written extensively about the power of the Learning Commons to transform school cultures, has spoken at a number of educational conferences, and is working hard to apply what she has learned in the schools she serves. Terri will be sharing a “Recipe for Success” in the library to Learning Commons transformation, based on her own experiences working with schools to achieve the best possible outcome with limited resources.
